How to balance your diet’ is an article series all about achieving balance in your diet, and what that looks (and tastes) like. It’s a common phrase, but what does it mean, and how do you do it? Find out here.

How much alcohol should you drink?

Alcohol is actually poisonous in our bodies. This happens to be why it makes us feel so good, and then suddenly, so bad. It whacks our senses, motor skills, vocabularies, memories and inhibitions, and makes us into a very different version of ourselves – good or bad.

It also really affects the body’s ability to lose weight, because when there’s alcohol in your gut then that’s what your system is working on – poison control.

So shouldn’t we all just stop drinking completely? Probably.

Are we going to? No.

You see, alcohol is part of our way of socialising and relaxing. It can be an important part of many parts of life.

So how does one get balance?

This is one where LIMITS or BOUNDARIES are the only option.

You need to stop drinking after one NORMAL SIZED drink per day (maximum two on any given day). If you do this, and you don’t drink EVERY SINGLE DAY then you can call that balanced.

But if you’re really serious about losing a lot of weight or getting really lean, then you’re going to need to stop completely. Sorry.

This is how balance can be achieved while living a predominantly healthy and active lifestyle. You don’t have to be BORING to be on diet!
