So what is preventative Botox?

Preventative Botox is the use of Botox at the first signs of ageing. Instead of correcting wrinkles and lines once they have clearly formed, this approach weakens the muscles that cause lines. With less or no movement, the likelihood of crows feet or other lines forming is lessened. So basically, you prevent wrinkles from forming before they start.

When should you start Preventative Botox?

While age may be a factor, what matters more is how expressive you are (frown or smile a lot), sun exposure, as well as genetics. The best time to start preventative Botox is once you can see the tell-tale signs of ageing while your face is resting. For most this is either in your late twenties or early thirties.

Benefits of preventative Botox

Unlike regular Botox, because this treatment starts before and wrinkles are deep set, you’ll actually need less Botox less often. This means that in the long run, it could end up costing less.

Muscles are weakened so there is little chance of deep-set wrinkles ever forming.

Facial expressions appear more natural because slight movement is still possible.

The one major drawback of preventative Botox

This process involves weakening muscles in your face, but if done for a long time, this can cause muscle atrophy because these muscles haven’t been used.
