In deciding to lose the weight and beginning to diet you are taking charge of the situation, and seeking a positive change. So, well done! There may be many more steps to take on this path, but you can’t take the second without the first.

Another positive is that the weight will come off easily at first, if your diet and exercise are good and you stick to them. That beats the heck out of slogging away for weeks only to lose 500g. People will also notice your weight loss once you’ve lost a few kilos, which is always nice.

You’re also moving towards an easier, better life when it comes to your basic mobility. Your life will seem less arduous, because you will be transporting a lighter body from place to place. That’s a good thing for your joints and also a good thing for your energy levels.
