Watching your weight but want pizza?

Are you watching your weight but can’t seem to resist the craving for pizza? Well, if you are, don’t worry – there are probably hundreds of people out there who find themselves in the same predicament!

Cutting down on high-calorie favourite foods may not be as easy for some people as it is for others, but take a deep breath and relax. Allow yourself the opportunity to take a closer look at your food choices and make wise decisions that will aid your weight-loss efforts, without having to completely give up certain foods.

If, for example, pizza is your first love, be clever when ordering one! Dis-Chem magazine offers some of the following suggestions. Ask for a thin base as opposed to a thick one, and consider ordering a vegetarian topping, with just a little cheese. Avoid adding processed meats and cheeses that are high in fat and salt, such as salami, ham and extra cheese.

If you are preparing your very own pizza at home, you can take it further by perhaps using brown flour instead of the usual refined white flour for the base.
