Hearing loss among adults
Many adults may experience a certain degree of hearing loss, whether it is mild, moderate or severe.
According toDis-Chem magazine, there are ‘several factors that are driving the increase in hearing loss worldwide, namely the growing global population and the increasing proportion of the population who are older people’.
Causes of hearing loss amongst adults
There are many causes of hearing loss for adults. These causes include foreign bodies or wax that blocks the ear canal, exposure to loud sounds, listening through personal audio devices at unsafe levels, use of certain medications as well as infections such as mumps, measles, meningitis and ear infections with discharge.
Hearing loss could also be a result of the normal ageing process, diabetes and high blood pressure.
