Basketball champion Lebron James took time out of his schedule to jet off to Germany to watch our track queen Caster Semenya compete on Sunday!
Caster is currently competing at the 2018 Internationales Stadionfest (ISTAF). During Sunday’s race, she added to her growing list of achievements by claiming yet another record!
She claimed the 1000m gold and in the process beat her own SA record. “I am very happy with the time. The crowd was fantastic, the meeting and the stadium are amazing,” she told ANA.
A year after breaking the world best for 600m at this IAAF World Challenge meeting, the 27-year-old stormed to the fifth fastest 1000m time in history. Running without pacemakers Semenya clocked 2:30.70, a world lead and SA record.
LeBron Raymone James Sr was there to watch the action. He is considered by many to be the greatest basketball player of all time. James has also been ranked by Forbes as one of the world’s most influential athletes, and one of Time’s 100 most influential people in the world.
Our golden girl, Semenya, shared snaps of herself with James on social media. Caster’s proud wife, Violet, also shared a pic with the caption “@castersemenya800m your smile say it all Comrade😊😁finally you met your icon @kingjames 👑”
Isn’t it awesome when two great sports stars show support for each other?!
