What to do if you have a LOT of weight to lose’ is a series of articles dedicated to the seemingly daunting task of losing lots of weight – think 30kg or more. If you are in this boat then this is the strategy for you. Follow the steps week by week and you’ll soon be on the path to a THINNER and (more importantly) HEALTHIER you.

Look for testimony, not information

When you are trying to lose weight you’re quite likely to talk about dieting at social gatherings. This will happen for various, and mostly unavoidable reasons. You’ll avoid eating something and get asked why, or drink water instead of soda and cause a stir.

What you’ll find in these situations is that EVERYONE will be able to tell you what diet will work the best for YOU. They’re going to come out guns blazing with facts and figures, books you should read, and just generally the UNQUESTIONABLE TRUTH about losing weight.

And they’ll do it all while shovelling pizza into their face and drinking their fourth beer of the night.

The thing about our current world is that everyone has information

And that CAN be good for certain things. But information isn’t helpful unless it’s in context.

And when it comes to YOUR diet, what counts is practical experience with weight loss. Sure, people can spout about all their favourite diet IDEAS, but if they haven’t DONE them successfully, then what’s the use?

So next time someone tells you how well a particular diet is going to work for you, ask them why they haven’t done it yet.

Take advice from people who have a TESTIMONY, not just information.
