South African comedian Trevor Noah is celebrating news that The Daily Show is up for three awards at this year’s Emmys
The hit show has been nominated for best ‘Variety Talk Series’, it’s first nomination in the category with Trevor as host.
Trevor Noah, who is in Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, took to Instagram to reveal the show is nominated for a total of three Emmys.
“Wow, I visited Russia for 3 days and now The Daily Show is nominated for 3 Emmys. Next time I should stay for a week and then run for president. To all the people who voted for us and to all who watch our show I could not be more grateful. Spasibo,” he wrote.
The show is also nominated for ‘Outstanding Interactive Program’ and ‘Outstanding Short Form Variety Series’ – a category the show won last year, earning Trevor his first-ever Emmy.
Trevor is no stranger to winning awards. He won ‘Best TV Host’ at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards – beating the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, RuPaul and John Oliver. The 33-year-old also won two NAACP awards for his autobiography, Born a Crime.
The 70th annual Emmy Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles in September.
