The event that causes MOST dieters to lose control, and ditch their eating plan is a PARTY.

The festive nature of a party makes us feel like we are untouchable by “real life”.  It lulls us into a feeling of just enjoying the few hours at the party as much as possible, no matter what the consequences.

People who are generally really strict about following their eating plan to lose weight can suddenly just go crazy and eat like there’s no tomorrow – except then there is a tomorrow, and they wake up hating themselves.

This is not balanced.  But nor is avoiding parties.

So where’s the balance?

Well, it’s pretty simple really. First, remember that you’re not attending a FOOD PARTY. The party’s purpose is usually to celebrate someone or something. The food just happens to be there as a part of the celebration. So it’s not all about eating.

Second, allow yourself two or three drinks of wine or whisky (no mixer), and allow yourself to eat a LITTLE of anything you like, but only allow yourself one bit of each item. This way you can enjoy each flavour – meaning you’ve had a great experience – without taking in a diet-killing number of calories.

This way you can go home knowing that you did the party justice without compromising your diet progress in the process. If you still feel like you’ve over-indulged, then try an intermittent fast the day after the party. This will help get rid of toxins, and will help bring the calorie count back into balance.

This is how balance can be achieved while living a predominantly healthy and active lifestyle. You don’t have to be BORING to be on diet!
