South African singer, Ringo Madlingozi was left fuming after watching a video that showed two students assaulting a woman believed to be a teacher at their school
In the video, two pupils team up to physically assault the teacher, pulling her hair and kicking her before grappling her forcefully. The video has gone viral on social media although it’s not clear what led to the assault.
Ringo took to social media to slam the pupils for their actions, but further reflected on how this video is indicative of a bigger problem in society.
“This is definitely the results of our society. Living in a world where violence is the only solution to all problems. We are the role models of our kids. This is not on, to have young kids beating up an adult, a teacher that only wants the best for them. This cannot be allowed that a woman teacher had to fight for her life, protecting herself from the very kids that she loves (sic).”
In an impassioned Twitter post, he called on parents and elders to take a stand:
We, the parents are the role models of our kids. These kids see their aunts, uncles, fathers, mothers, sisters & brothers being violent verbally and physically. They only emulate what they see and hear. Let us have a serious dialogue among ourselves and heal our selves. pic.twitter.com/d9VGvapHC5

The South African Council for Educators spoke to Tshisa Live and confirmed that they are taking this matter very seriously
“Whilst we condemn and act decisively in dealing with teachers involving themselves in such conduct‚ Council feels something drastic needs to be done in stopping learners from conducting themselves in such a manner‚”
Do you think Ringo Madlingozi’s complaints will lead to change in our society?
