Is cheating EVER okay?
“Cheating”. Isn’t that a word used to describe illegal activities? Aren’t illegal things ALWAYS wrong? So why do we talk about “cheating” on our diets? Seems strange to me.
A diet “cheat” is anything food-related that doesn’t fit into the plan you’re supposed to be following.
A BALANCED diet is one in which “naughty” food-events are taken into account every now and then, and progression is planned around them.
You see, a “cheat” is only a problem if it’s not part of your plan and you end up feeling really guilty about it.
If it’s part of the plan, then you can deal with it, enjoy it, and move on
And that’s really important, because if there’s one thing that kills diets more than anything else it’s dieters feeling guilty about what they are eating on the sly.
Cheating is NEVER okay. But following a plan that incorporates some naughty foods every now and then can be. It’s all in how you think and talk about it, and how responsible you are in the execution.
Be good, even when you are allowed to be a little bit “bad” and you’ll be just fine.
