Not even Serena Williams made Forbes’s list of the top 100 highest earning athletes in the world this year! Zero women are featured in the list for the first time since Forbes began compiling the list…

Although Serena, who made the list last year, is still far from broke after taking a break from pro tennis to give birth to her baby last year. The grand-slam champ still took home around $18 million in sponsorships!

So who exactly are the top-earning athletes in the world? And how much have they made in the last year?

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr earned a cool $285m after his hugely publicised fight with Conor McGregor in August 2017. He was followed closely by two handsome footballers – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo who brought home $111m and $108m respectively.

Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. (né Sinclair; born February 24, 1977) is an American professional boxing promoter and former professional boxer. He competed from 1996 to 2007 and 2009 to 2015, and made a one-fight comeback in 2017.

During his career, he held multiple world titles in five weight classes and the lineal championship in four weight classes (twice at welterweight), and retired with an undefeated record of 50–0, the second highest undefeated streak in the modern era of boxing after Ricardo López.

Mayweather resides in a 2,000 m2, five-bedroom, seven-bath, custom-built mansion in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2008, Mayweather recorded a rap song titled “Yep” that he used for his entrance on WrestleMania XXIV in his match against Big Show.

On 15 October 2017, his wife announced they were expecting their third child in an Instagram post, with the words “Family of 5”.

Messi enjoys a close relationship with his immediate family members, particularly his mother, Celia, whose face he has tattooed on his left shoulder.
