Anele Mdoda’s fans are still in shock about Anele Mdoda announcing on Thursday that she would be leaving her SABC 3 show, Real Talk with Anele
The news came as a surprise to many as the show was popular and often trended on Twitter.
Anele interviewed high-profile guests such as AKA, Nomzamao Mbatha, Cassper Nyovest, Minnie Dlamini, Felicia Mabuza Suttle and DJ Zinhle.
The radio and TV personality was credited with making the talk show the overwhelming success it has become since making its debut two years ago.
So, why the departure?
Anele said in a statement she was leaving for her “own growth”.
“It is time to leave the show and to focus on my career ambitions and prospects,” she added.
SABC 3 and Cheeky Media also released a statement, saying they have “mutually accepted the resignation of SABC3’s Real Talk host”.
But Anele’s fans are questioning if she really resigned.
“Resigned? Lol get fired with dignity,” one Twitter user wrote.
Another asked: “I wonder what happened here?”
Anele’s last appearance on the show will be on June 8, which some feel is a bit strange, considering the current season only ends in October
Anele and the show’s creators are sticking to their story, but if some drama did happen behind the scenes we can expect the outspoken star to reveal all at some stage.
The search is now on for Anele’s replacement. Some viewers are already rooting for her sister, Thembisa Mdoda, to fill her very big shoes on the show.
Other favourites include Bonang Matheba, Lerato Kganyago and Pearl Modiadie.
With Anele’s last day fast approaching, we can expect the show to make an announcement on its next host very soon.
