The countdown to Mother’s Day has begun… are you ready to spoil your mom on 13 May this year?
Even if you don’t subscribe to the commercial side of Mother’s Day, we can all agree that our mom needs to be appreciated. For those of us who are able to visit on Mother’s Day, why not cook your mom a meal, spend time going through family albums, or help her in the garden?
Memories are a mom’s most treasured possession, so you could have some of your favourite photographs framed, or make a photobook for her to browse through and brag to her friends.
Spoil her with a sensational spa voucher! (Over 300 spas to choose from!)
If you want to treat your mom to something extra special this year, check out our favourite spas in your area – they’ve all been tried and tested by our picky team. Plus the vouchers can be used at over 300 spas throughout South Africa, so Mom can choose where she wants to go.
Even better, you can use your eBucks, Discovery Miles, Voyager Miles or Nedbank Greenbacks Rewards to buy a voucher, so it’ll feel like you aren’t spending any money at all!
Some more spoils…
For those of you who would like to buy your mom something special but don’t have time to scour the shops, the All4Women team has done the legwork for you… we have put together some of our favourite items that we’d like to spoil our moms with this Mother’s Day… plus they’re a bargain!
Sasha’s find for the week:
The perfect gift for moms who slouch!
If like me, your mom complains that she spends way too much time hunched at her desk, slouching when she’s driving, or bent over doing the dishes, then the UprightGo is the perfect gift. (If this is on your wish list too, share this with the gift buyer in your house – with a Mother’s Day hint attached.) Attach the UprightGo to your back – and get a gentle nudge every time you slouch. You’ll improve your posture, strengthen your core and take inches off your tummy!

Monique’s find for the week:
I prefer to make a fuss of loved ones when it’s their birthday or on other personal occasions. That said, my usual small but meaningful gift for my mom is always flowers.

Lara’s find for the week:
If there’s one thing a mom doesn’t do enough of, it’s take time out for herself. Showers are rushed, meals are gulped down, hair is thrown into the easiest hairstyle possible and it’s all go, go, go! Moms don’t stop for one minute, whether they have young children themselves or help us ‘bigger’ children with our own littlies, which is why my go-to gift for Mother’s Day is always a spa-day treat.
I’m a big fan of Vusalela Day Spa, situated close to Hartbeespoort. They are currently offering a special Mother’s Day package for R995 which includes a relaxing facial, head-and-shoulder massage, foot massage, hand massage as well as a full body exfoliation and hot stone massage (that’s six full treatments!). A yummy breakfast, lunch and snacks are included in the price.
A pamper day away from the hustle and bustle of the city is sure to leave mom feeling like a million bucks! And, speaking of bucks… if your piggy bank allows it, why not book a spot for yourself too, so that you and mom can enjoy some quality R&R together?!

Claire’s find for the week:
I recently scanned and converted all of our family photographs to digital format so that we can preserve them for the future. This includes my parents’ wedding album and some precious pics from my childhood with my sister.
For Mother’s Day this year, we are keen to get my mom a digital photo frame to display these pics. This one from takealot is a fair size, and the silver metallic frame is less intrusive than the dark black ones that were originally on the market.
The frame comes with a remote control, and an easy-to-use display. You just plug a memory stick into it, and the photos will show on the HD screen.
