4. Think before you drink
What you drink matters HUGELY when it comes to weight loss. If you drink alcohol, learn to limit yourself to two drinks per occasion, and limit the ‘occasions’ to one or two per week.
Also, don’t drink anything sugary. This stretches from commercial fruit juices, flavoured water and energy drinks, to sodas and sugary mixers in your brandy. On a normal day you should drink only water, and black coffee or black tea/ herb teas if you like. That provides more than enough options for a happy life.
Remember: Alcohol contains calories
Add ALL of the alcohol you consume to your daily calories. Here’s a rough guide for you to see how calorie-dense alcohol is:
(Remember that one slice of white bread contains around 53 calories)
- 1 glass of red wine (125ml of liquid) = 85 calories
- 1 glass of white wine (125ml of liquid) = 82 calories
- 1 can of beer = 154 calories
- 1 tot of whiskey (35ml) = 105 calories
- 1 tot of brandy (35ml) = 100 calories
- 1 tot of vodka (35ml) = 97 calories
5. Manage your stress
If you’re getting too stressed then you’re getting progressively less healthy too. You need to learn to manage your stress because stress equals storage of calories, and that means increased weight. Find some things that make you happy and do them regularly.
Also, make sure you find a way to get good sleep every night, and spend quality time with people you love, and exercise! These are the things that make life feel full.
