‘What to do if you have a LOT of weight to lose’ is a series of articles dedicated to the seemingly daunting task of losing lots of weight – think 30kg or more. If you are in this boat then this is the strategy for you. Follow the steps week by week and you’ll soon be on the path to a THINNER and (more importantly) HEALTHIER you.

Take your time

Weight loss is a process that relies on a few main factors… things like diet, exercise, sleep and supplementation are all important, but they are all somewhat flexible. There’s one component that is CONCRETE though: TIME.

You CANNOT lose a lot of REAL weight in a short amount of time. Sure, you can lose 1 or 2 kilos in your first week on diet, but you’re going to need to invest in yourself for far longer if you want to lose twenty, thirty, forty, or more kilograms. You’re realistically looking at 5 or 6 months to lose 20kg and keep it off.

This may seem disheartening, but please PERSEVERE!

Remember how long it took to gain the weight? Our bodies don’t change overnight

It’s going to take a long time no matter what, so embrace that and stop trying to fad-diet your way to miracle results. Take a measured approach and relax into the process. Flip-flopping from one plan to another because you haven’t lost enough weight quickly enough is one sure-fire way to NOT lose any weight at all.

Take your time, and allow the process to work for you. Diets only work if you do them honestly and give them sufficient time to take effect.
