How to balance your diet‘ is an article series all about achieving balance in your diet, and what that looks (and tastes) like. It’s a common phrase, but what does it mean, and how do you do it? Find out here.

How to balance your diet: When it all goes pear-shaped

One of the many reasons that diets fail is that sometimes dieters have one or two bad diet days and then GIVE UP because they think they’ve done irreparable damage to their overall progress. Does this sound balanced to you? No? Have you done it before? … Thought so.

So how do we get balance in this situation?

Well, the reality here is that in order to have a balanced viewpoint on this issue (in your own diet) you have to accept that you WILL have a couple of bad meals/days/weeks every now and then.

Why? Because life’s just like that.

What you do about it is where the balance comes in though

Instead of throwing your hands up in the air and walking away from your diet (basically giving in to the chaos of bad eating), a balanced mind simply says “Let’s restore order and get back on track”.

You HAVE NOT caused any long-term failure through eating a few bad meals, just the same way that a few good meals don’t leave you looking ‘ripped’.

So recognise the bad meals. You can’t undo them. All you can do is change for the better and move forward as quickly as possible. That’s BALANCE.
