Not content with setting world records, Caster Semenya is also taking the academic world by storm…

On Wednesday morning, SA’s athletic sensation posted a photograph of herself in her graduation gown, simply titled “#MamaIMadeIt”. The photograph was taken by Semenya’s wife, Violet Raseboya at the graduation ceremony at North-West University’s (NWU) campus in Potchefstroom. 27-Year-old Semenya graduated with a Diploma in Sports Science.

Raseboya also posted a series of photographs on her own Instagram account, showing how proud she was of the new graduate. “She builds and inspires others because she knows what it’s like to be torn down. Never give up in life no matter what. She is my inspiration”.

Semenya recently broke the SA record in the women’s 1000m in a time of two minutes 35,43 seconds, at the Athletix Grand Prix Series, in Pretoria.

She was also voted the SA Sports Woman of the Year in 2017 – a year after she brought home her Olympic gold medals.
