Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa is an unexpected oasis in the hub of Sandton – a tranquil retreat from the noise of the city and a place to relax and be pampered…
This is a hotel where guests come to REALLY relax
I knew this was going to be a REAL getaway when I took a stroll through the gorgeous lush, manicured gardens to the pool area – and was greeted by the sight of couples and families lounging under umbrellas, playing cards and reading paperbacks, while discreet waiters served champagne and ice cold beer to a relaxed, unhurried clientele.
I love the buzz of Sandton with its hotels that border Nelson Mandela Square, but blaring taxi hooters and the constant hum of the city doesn’t exactly make for a relaxing stay in an area that’s happening and vibey, but full of frenetic energy.
Fairlawns offers five-star sophistication and luxury in an unrivalled tranquil setting
If you’re looking for a hotel that offers the convenience of being six kilometres from the hub of Sandton, (with a complimentary shuttle for guests), but want peace and pampering from your accommodation, then Fairlawns is the perfect destination.
Sophisticated decor and unparalled luxury
The chic, upscale suites are individually decorated in varying themes ranging from Eastern influence to French provincial.
Our sumptuous and glamorous courtyard suite was decorated in black and white and featured the eclectic and sophisticated decor found in the rest of the hotel – complete with stylish artworks, a king-size canopied bed, and an enormous bathroom with a glass-walled shower, luxurious tub and his-and-hers basins.
I loved the framed plasma screen TV that is incorporated as part of the decor, USB ports for electronics, and the welcome wine, fruit and complimentary mini bar was a thoughtful touch.
Dinner was a romantic experience in our private and secluded poolside pagoda
Fairlawns offers guests the options of a fine dining experience in either the award-winning flagship restaurant, Amuse-Bouche, the Manor House Bistro, the outdoor terrace, or the private dining room.
But they are also very happy to set a table in one of their pagodas in the gardens for a romantic and secluded dining experience.
It was a perfect balmy, windless Jo’burg summer evening and we dined next to the pool on ostrich carpaccio, sea bass and pork belly, accompanied by a fine merlot from the hotel’s impressive cellar.
FYI: Amuse-Bouche, was announced as a winner in the Luxury Hotel Restaurant, Regional Category, at the 2017 World Luxury Restaurant Awards held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Cocktails or nightcaps in Jo’burg’s most beautiful bar
A Kahlua Dom Pedro rounded off a perfect evening in Fairlawn’s latest source of pride: the decadent MUSE Champagne Room and adjoining courtyard.
In collaboration with French Champagne House, Perrier-Jouët, MUSE is a sumptuous mix of elegance and contemporary design, using nature as its source of inspiration, and offering an eclectic range of designer cocktails, as well as a signature casse-croûte menu.
I fell in love with the beautiful butterfly swing on the terrace (above).
No Fairlawns experience is complete without a visit to the spa
The exquisite bamboo forest gardens will transport you to a Balinese-style paradise at the hotel’s spa
With a range of therapies and signature Asian-inspired treatments, a team of skilled therapists brings you back to a state of calm and natural well-being. (A much-needed treat after a month of Christmas chaos, family visits and rich food.)
Our hour-long couples aromatherapy full-body massage was one of the best I’ve experienced in ages, and our outdoor treatment sala provided the perfect setting with background sounds of birdsong and trickling water features.
There are also five indoor treatment rooms with enhanced mood lighting and the Balinese Gardens feature a heated plunge pool, Knipe therapy, spa bath and hidden escapes on a Chinese daybed or pod swing chairs. The spa also has steam rooms and a sauna.
Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa offers the upmarket guest a delicate mix of luxury and convenience, whether the visit is for leisure or business, with a conference room and a fully-equipped gym.
