One of the great things about the days leading up to Christmas are all the fun Christmas re-runs showing on television. There’s nothing better than curling up on the couch with your family and watching a feel-good festive-season movie everyone can enjoy.

These movies might not all be on TV, but it’s definitely worth buying the DVD or searching for them on your Showmax or Netflix account.


This movie is suitable for kids seven years and older (mild rude humour and language), and it’s the ultimate Christmas movie to enjoy with the young, or the young at heart!

When he was a toddler, Buddy was accidentally transported to the North Pole where he was raised among Santa’s elves. 30 Years later he finds out that he is in fact not an Elf and that his real father lives in New York City. He immediately takes off to go and search for his long-lost family.

Buddy’s dad, Walter, doesn’t believe that Buddy is really his son at first, but after a DNA test proves that they are father and son, Walter takes him home to meet his wife.

Buddy also meets a girl while in New York and has many chances to do silly things while getting to know his family and his new girl.

The Star

This movie is best suited for kids five years and older.

It deals with the religious side of Christmas in a way that’s fun for kids.

Bo the donkey dreams of adventure in the outside world, but he is stuck working for the village miller. One day he manages to escape and teams up with Ruth, a sheep who’s lost her flock, and Dave the dove. The trio begins an action-packed journey to follow a star that’s leading them toward young, pregnant Mary and her husband, Joseph who’ve been forced by royal decree to travel to Bethlehem.

Daddy’s Home 2

This movie is best suited for kids 14 years and older. At last, a Christmas movie teens won’t roll their eyes at!

Brad and Dusty are finally getting along and their “co-dad” relationship is working well for everyone… until their fathers pitch up to spend the holidays with them.

After finding out that the kids hate the dysfunctional Christmas in which they must divide their time between two families during the holidays, Brad and Dusty decide to give the kids a ‘together Christmas’ they’ll never forget.

Adventure and chaos is not far behind and the ‘together Christmas’ is not what the families expected it to be.

The Santa Clause

This movie is best suited for kids nine years and older.

An oldie, but a goody. This movie will have your kids in stitches. Divorced dad Scott and his son are together at his house on Christmas Eve when they hear a noise on his roof. Scott goes out to inspect and finds a man in a Santa suit there, who, after being startled, falls off the roof. Scott’s son is convinced that he killed Santa.

They finds Santa’s sleigh and reindeer and are taken to the North Pole where Scott is informed that he is now the new Santa Clause. Scott is convinced that it was all just a bad dream, but he is putting on weight and growing a beard…
