2. After the feast

You can lose all of the ‘weight’ (actually just increased water retention) from Christmas day by doing a 20- to 24-hour fast directly after Christmas lunch. It’s simple.

Eat the giant lunch, then don’t eat again until lunch on Boxing Day. You’ll survive, and the water weight will be lost, so you won’t think you’ve put on a bunch of fat. Fasting like this is generally healthy to do anyway.

3. Do some exercise

One of the ways to make your body use extra calories more productively is to do some tough resistance training on a regular basis (three-times per week or more). And if you’re on leave, you really have NO excuse not to get to the gym since you don’t have to go at 5am! Include it in your holiday schedule.
