Understand how much and why you eat

Understanding how much and why you eat can help you to better manage your weight, especially if you find that you tend to overeat or over-indulge at certain times or situations.

Stress, fear, anxiety, etc., are just some of the reasons as to why many people turn to food for comfort. Some may even use it as a reward for achieving something. The reasons vary amongst people but if it is done regularly, it can lead to weight gain

Keep a food diary

Keeping a food diary can help you to keep track of the types of foods as well as quantity of foods that you are consuming. Be honest with yourself and write down everything that you eat, no matter how small or how many bites you indulged in. Don’t forget to jot down the beverages too!

Consult a professional

Seek the assistance of a psychologist if you feel that there may be deeper underlying reasons as to why you turn to food – perhaps for comfort – during certain times.
