Sometimes we go a bit overboard with the straightener and it shows in the condition of our hair. This week Lumka teaches us how to treat heat damaged hair.

Dry, damaged, lifeless hair is often caused by using too much heat

Heat damage is not a train smash though.

Here’s how you can get your hair feeling and looking healthy again in three easy steps:

1. Cleanse with a good shampoo

Use a good shampoo to clean and moisturise your hair. Try Creighton Argan Shampoo (R49,95, Pick ‘n Pay)

2. Deep condition

After shampooing, it’s conditioner time. Try to use the same family of products for both steps in the repair process. Creighton Argan Conditioner (R49,95, Pick ‘n Pay) should do the trick.

3. Reconstruct your hair

An intensive treatment will help patch up all the the chips, cracks and breaks in the cuticle of the hair.

Try Head and Shoulders (African Scalp and Hair Care) Rinse-Off Treatment Masque (R69,99 Pick ‘n Pay) or Dr Miracle’s Conditioning Treatment Pack (R64,95, Clicks) if the damage is really bad.

After a few treatments, your hair will start getting its old shine back.
