A 33-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for rape and robbery, North West police said on Wednesday
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani said Thamaga Kagiso Gladwin was sentenced at the Itsoseng Regional Court on Tuesday.
“The court was informed that the accused and two accomplices raped three women on Saturday, 8 March, 2014 at Itsoseng. It was reported at the time of the incident that the victims were [returning] from church in the early hours when the accused approached the victims, grabbed and raped them separately. The accused and his accomplices raped the victims and ran away,” she said.
“Following a thorough investigation, Thamaga was arrested in October 2015 after being linked to the case through DNA. The police are expecting to arrest the remaining two other accused soon.”
