Great lifestyle habits that support good health

Eat and drink healthily

Maintain a healthy diet on a daily basis. Stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables and throw out the junk, refined and highly processed foods. Remember to also choose your beverages wisely. Cut down on highly sweetened beverages or those that contain a lot of additives.

If you need help in creating a diet plan of healthy and balanced meals, seek the help of a dietician.

Manage your weight

Check your weight with your doctor. He or she will calculate your body mass index and advise you whether your weight is ideal for your age. Remember that, together with following a healthy diet, managing your weight effectively also involves following a regular exercise regime.

Engage in physical activity

Ensure that you engage in some form of physical activity on a daily basis. Some people prefer going to the gym whilst others prefer getting a workout at home. If you choose to exercise outdoors, do not forget to apply sunscreen and use other forms of sun protection especially on hot days.

Hydrate

Hydration is very important for your body so be sure to drink the recommended amount of water on a daily basis. Carry a water bottle around with you so that you are well hydrated throughout the day. Water will also help to keep you cool and energised.

Sleep

Aim to sleep for about eight hours a night. Obviously, this number varies from person to person but a good amount of rest is essential to keep you energised and ready to handle the demands of the following day.
