Plan ahead and prevent weight gain over the festive season

Many people tend to pile on the weight, especially after overeating and overindulging during the festive season. Are you one of them?

If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to the above question, then perhaps you need to take more control and start to plan ahead. The earlier the better!

Here are some ideas on how you could cut down on calories during the holidays:

Make clever choices

During dinner-time, choose your foods cleverly. Buffets are very common during the festive season so you have no excuse in choosing healthy options to eat. Of course, a little indulgence is fine but do not allow yourself to overdo it!

Prepare healthy dishes

If possible, prepare a healthy side dish (or a platter for everyone to share!) when attending a family get-together. In this way, you will be guaranteed to have a healthy option or two to eat as opposed to having to eat whatever is served to you. You may be pleasantly surprised as to how many others think the same way you do and your healthy platter may be wiped clean before you know it!

Start getting low calorie recipes together

It is never too early to start looking around recipe books, magazines or the internet for low calorie, healthy and delicious recipes to prepare over the festive season. If you start now, you will have many alternatives from which to choose by the time the festive season is here. Have fun, be creative and enjoy!
