The silly season is almost upon us and is sure to bring a series of invitations with it. Learn what dress codes require you to wear now.

Casual dress code

The easiest of them all! You can wear just about anything for a casual dress code. Think jeans and top or a dress. Pretty much anything goes – even when it comes to shoes.

Beating business casual

This requires a little more finesse. The general rule of thumb is to opt for what you’d wear in an office environment. Examples include a dress or slacks and blouse. Keep your hair and make-up minimal.

Setting the smart casual standard

This is the most misunderstood dress code of them all. The key to remember is that while you can wear something relaxed an element of smartness is required. For instance, opt for a chic top with a pair of dark wash jeans and heels. Dresses that are slightly smarter can also work.

Finding something for formal dress codes

This dress code definitely requires a dress, heels and clutch. Most women opt for a little black dress and glittering accessories but you can experiment with other colours too.

Be bourgeois with black tie

This is one of the fanciest of dress codes. Opt for a floor-length gown, glamorous jewellery and a dramatic updo. Pair with a smoky eye or red lip.
