Does having a home décor team revamp the living room seem like a dream come true?

Of course we’d all love to win a home makeover, but instead of waiting to win one, take that ‘before’ photo now and get ready to give your living room a makeover.

Here are a few easy (and budget-friendly) ways to revamp your living room this weekend:

Highlight a feature

Paint makes a big difference. Use it to highlight a feature in the room and inject some colour by painting just one wall in a colour that complements the living room décor.

You could paint the wall around the TV, fireplace or the window with a great view out into the garden.

Move the furniture

It’s amazing how moving furniture around can refresh a room and even make it function better.

Rearrange the living room seating so that it faces the main focal point, like the TV screen, the view outdoors, or a fireplace.

While you’re moving the furniture around, you might as well attack surface clutter too.

Decluttering is the fastest way to transform a space from cramped and chaotic to calm and inviting. From the pile of dog-eared magazines to the ornaments you don’t like anymore, donate or recycle what you can.

See to the sofa

A sofa is the main piece of furniture in a living room, so of course it commands attention.

If you have the need and bucks, invest in a new sofa. However, if your budget is tight, you could do any of the following:

  • Plan to get the sofa reupholstered
  • Book a steam cleaning service to give it good clean
  • Cover the sofa with an attractive throw
  • Add a few colourful scatter cushions

Add art

Dress up blank walls with works of art.

Art doesn’t have to be expensive. Shop around for affordable art at flea markets, second-hand shops and student art exhibitions.

Alternatively, make your own. Simply frame and display your own photos and artworks.

Once you’re finished, take a photo and enjoy the satisfaction of making that ‘after’ happen all by yourself.
