Trevor Noah has won his first Emmy at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards Show in Los Angeles at the weekend
The South African comedian took home the Emmy for ‘Outstanding Short Form Variety Series’, for his show’s You Tube comedy special, The Daily Show: Between the Scenes
The series beat tough competition from Epic Rap battles of History, Behind the Voice, Honest Trailers and The Star Wars Show.
Trevor was on the road doing comedy shows and could not accept the award in person.
The South African comedian has won several other big awards this year
His book, Born A Crime, won two NAACP Image Awards earlier this year. It was also awarded the 2017 Nielsen Booksellers’ Choice Award.
“The award is given to “a local author for a South African published book that booksellers most enjoyed selling or that sold so well that it made a difference to the bottom line of booksellers across the country”.
Trevor was also named ‘Best Host’ at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, beating the likes of Ellen DeGeneres
The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards will be taking place on Sunday.
Disappointingly, The Daily Show did not make the cut in the ‘Outstanding Variety Talk Series’ category, but we doubt Trevor is moaning, after winning his first ever Emmy.
