Home Made Problem Solver has this recipe for your home made stain remover.
It is designed for removing stains from coffee, grease, fruit juice and many other common irritating marks that make a housewife’s life a misery.
½ cup white vinegar (125 ml)
1/3 cup clear, not cloudy, household ammonia (80ml)
1/4 cup bicarbonate of soda (45g)
2 tablespoons liquid castile soap. This is an olive oil based soap and can be found at most health or Body Shops
1,5 litres water.
Combine all ingredients into a four-litre container.
Stir very well and pour into a spray bottle.
Spritz the mixture onto the stain and leave for about five minutes.
Rub the spot gently with a soft cloth and then wash as soon as possible.
Lipstick smears are common, especially when you decide to change in a hurry and pull the garment over your head without covering your lips. There are 2 things you can do:
1. Dab on petroleum jelly before you wash out the mark.
2. Take out the centre of a fat slice of white bread, squish it into a ball and blot the spot frequently.
The dough will lift the stain from the fabric.
Wash the garment.

A squirt of non-gel shaving cream onto a stain of tomato sauce which is then rubbed gently and left to dry and after that, washed, will render the stain a thing of the past.
