A new advert for the SPCA encouraging South Africans to adopt animals from the organisation’s various rescue centres is causing a stir…

The tongue-in-cheek video shows a young woman chatting about her newly adopted dog, “Fluffy”, while a muscle-bound man covers  himself in olive oil in the background!

“This is my dog Fluffy, after wanting my own dog for really long I went to the SPCA. I explained to the lady my type of dog I want. And she found the perfect match. Fluffy is gentle, playful, she is so much fun and she is always there when I need her whether it’s to just to eat with me, watch TV or go for a jog. And I um, love her to bits!”

The advert is a funny take on the saying “you can’t choose your family” – we all have that family member who embarrasses us, or “the one” we don’t talk about!

But with the SPCA’s effective matching programme, you are guaranteed to get a new “family member” that you can be proud to show off to friends and take to reunions…
