We can’t all grow long nails, and not everyone has the time or budget to keep them professionally maintained…

  1. You should always take care of the condition of your nails first. Ensure that they’re manicured (cuticle work, filed and buffed) so that they don’t look neglected just because they’re short.
  2. Short nails tend to look best when they have an oval or square shape. The exception will be if you have really wide nails and fingers – opt for a slightly more rounded shape then.
  3. Skip the french paint, nail art and frosted shades – solid, glossy colours look great on short nails. Dark colours look especially good on smaller, more delicate nails. If you’re not a fan of nail polish or gel, buff your nails to a mirror shine.
