They say that, if you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.

Adrian Furstenburg took a leap of faith – and he definitely did make it

Furstenburg returns triumphant to South Africa as winner in the All About the Logo by Guess category of the 10th annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards in 2016.

Winning this prestigious award has opened many doors for the young designer, and – not one to rest on his laurels – he is grabbing every opportunity with arms wide open.

Furstenburg launched his first full retail collection of finely crafted bags at South African Fashion Week, as part of the SAFW Luxury Designer Pop Up Shop in Hyde Park Corner in April.

The collection, like the brand itself, is about making an impact

Since returning from New York, Furstenburg has expanded his operation to employ three artisans and machinists in his studio, making use of the highest quality locally sourced leathers to craft his covetable creations.

And just as the creation of the bags has a positive impact on his entire supply chain, a truly premium bag will make an impact on the person who uses it.

As Adrian puts it: Anyone who uses a bag often will tell you it’s so much more than an accessory. It’s an integral part of your day and the protector of some of our most treasured items – smartphones, computers and tablets, wallets, passports, money, cosmetics and perfumes.

A journey doesn’t have to include a flight around the world

Going from home to the office is also a journey – and this collection is designed to be a stylish and functional way to travel conveniently.

The AW17 collection unveiled at the SAFW Luxury Designer Pop Up is entitled SEVEN – a range of seven brand new designs with two variations of each, inspired by Furstenburg’s own passion for travel.

The collection is a tip of the hat to travel’s luxurious golden age, albeit with a modern, distinctly South African twist.

Getting your hands on an original Adrian Furstenburg is about to get a lot more difficult!
