A Cape Town metro police officer is in a critical but stable condition after being shot three times while in his vehicle, a City official said on Monday
Constable Mqondisi Mkhontwana was on his way home from Mandalay on Sunday night when he was ambushed at an intersection in Mitchells Plain, said Safety and Security mayoral committee member JP Smith.
Eight shots went through the right-hand side of the vehicle. Three bullets hit the officer.
Smith said the officer was in a critical, but stable condition after an emergency operation.
“We call on anyone with information to come forward,” he urged.
