Jason Goliath is one of the funniest men in the country but he had to overcome depression to reach this point ...
South African comedian Jason Goliath is one of the most popular comedians in the country right now
He’s about to host the upcoming Nick Fest, he’s an award-nominated comedian, and it just looks like things are going well for the 37-year-old. However, things weren’t always this good for the comic.
Jason has just given his most candid interview to date and in it he reveals that he seriously contemplated suicide when he was younger and it appeared that things weren’t working out.
In an interview with Tshisa Live, he talked about just how real the suicidal thoughts became
“I felt worthless and that the world would be a better place without me. The recurring thought I had was driving into a bridge on the highway. I remember thinking I could just put my foot on the accelerator and take a sharp right.
"People know that I am a petrol-head and love speed. My friends and family would think it was an accident," he said.
His battle with depression was so tough that it kept him in bed a lot of the time.
However, he talks about the importance of having a pillar of strength
"Take the support that is offered. My mom was my strength until I could take over again. I remember she used to call the housekeeper, to make sure I got out of bed,"
We’re glad that Jason was able to find strength in his battle against depression.
If you are suffering suicidal thoughts, remember, it’s never too late to speak to somebody who can help you turn things around.
