Summer is still very much here, but it’s time to start thinking about warming up for the colder months ...
How it is almost autumn already? This year is sure flying by! The summer has been particularly warm and dry (and quite divine), but there’s no denying we’ll be grateful for some respite from the heat, some rainfall for our parched earth (in the Cape, at least) and a bit more chill in the air.
The transition in the home from stifling heat to biting cold can be quite a quick one in South Africa’s all-in-one climate, so here are some tips to help you through the chillier months:
It’s all about wool, soft linens and thick, jersey fabrics. Anything that makes you want to curl up and disappear into layers of divine, comforting warmth. So get out those throws, extra scatter cushions and fluffy slippers!
Just like warmer times call for cooler tones in your decor, the cooler weather calls for warmer colours. Think burgundy, chocolate and dark blush to replace the blues and whites of summer.
Whether it’s placing glowing candles one in front of the other, or piling on the chunky knit blankets, layering gives a sense of extra comfort and warmth to a space. So bring out the extra décor and fill your home with autumn-ready elements.
