TIP: Detox – But Not the Way You Think

‘Detox’ plans have become all-the-rage of late, with people drinking and eating all manner of weird concoctions to detoxify their bodies.

The simple truth of the matter is that your body actually detoxifies itself without your help if you are careful about your nutrition and lifestyle.

Science has some serious questions about ‘detox’ plans, and the only real benefit of doing one of these courses is that your fat cells may ‘open up’ due to lack of calories and release some of the toxins stored inside. This can be achieved on a normal fat-loss diet though.

The type of detox you SHOULD do is one where you eliminate toxins from your life by NOT INGESTING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

If you don’t put them into your body then there’s no need to do a ‘detox plan’ later.

What this means is:

  1. Stop drinking so much alcohol.
  2. Stop smoking – anything other than fresh air is bad for your lungs.
  3. Try to take as little medication as possible. Chat to your doctor about what’s really necessary, then get a second opinion, and a third. Make sure that they have your best interests at heart and they are not just trying to fix a symptom instead of deal with the actual underlying issue.
  4. Try to steer clear of polluted environments.
  5. Don’t eat processed foods full of strange chemical ingredients.
  6. Try to eliminate stress from your life.

These six things will help you to detox by not introducing toxins in the first place, and you’ll lose weight as a result.
