It has been four years since the shocking Valentine’s Day death of Reeva Steenkamp
The model was shot dead by her boyfriend Oscar Pistorius after he allegedly thought she was an intruder.
The couple were at the athlete’s Pretoria home at the time of the 2013 shooting.
While Oscar is spending Valentine’s Day in prison after being sentenced to six years for her murder, Reeva’s family and friends are keeping her memory alive.
Her parents June and Barry Steenkamp are expected to return to the beach in Port Elizabeth where they have spent every Valentine’s Day since her death
They will scatter petals and flowers in her memory.
The Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation will also be staging a protest outside the Wynberg Magistrate Court on Tuesday to oppose the bail of a man charged with his wife’s murder.
Vuyiseka Poni, a mother of three, was reportedly stabbed 37 times in Cape Town last month.
“We want to show the family that Vuyi’s life was important and that these senseless killings against women must stop… We have been given a platform through Reeva’s voice and will use it to create awareness and bring as much attention to cases like this as we can,” Reeva’s cousin Kim Martin told TimesLIVE.
Scores of South Africans who were touched by Reeva’s story are also paying tribute
They took to Twitter to remember the model.
