We’re working longer, harder and faster than ever before and as a result, we tend to neglect the basics - like that annual check-up! Find out why an annual check-up should be at the top of your healthy to-do list…
When life feels hectic, these vital medical appointments sometimes end up taking a backseat even though we can’t afford to miss them!
Prolonged stress and a relatively unhealthy lifestyle, combined with other factors, can all take their toll on the body – and this can lead to illness and lifestyle related diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease and even cancer.
Regular GP, gynaecologist and dermatologist check-ups mean we are able to track important aspects of our health and have peace of mind if we’re given the all clear – which is usually the case.
More importantly though, these regular check-ups mean potential problems are more likely to be detected early. And the earlier a problem’s detected, the easier it is to treat. Essentially, if you stick to your annual medical check-ups, you have a much better chance of averting a major health crisis.
Alternatively, if a health problem is detected during one of your check-ups, is should be a wake-up call that you need to take better care of yourself.
Remember, it’s never too late to turn your life around and make positive changes to your lifestyle.
By doing what you can to reduce stress, exercise more often and eat better you’re already taking huge steps towards keeping your health in check and helping protect your body against future illness and disease.
