The amazing 9-year-old opera singer who stunned the world with her amazing voice on the Holland's Got Talent stage has South African roots.

According to Beeld, the nine-year-old songbird Amira Willighagen - whose rendition of opera piece 'O Mio Babbino Caro' dropped jaws, and has become a Youtube hit - has a South African-born mother, Frieda, who matriculated in Klerksdorp before moving to the Netherlands in 1995

Frieda's mother and Amira's grandmother, Elsa Brand, reportedly still lives in Potchefstroom, and she is understandably proud of her granddaughter, but also wary of the pressures attendant on a nine-year old becoming a celebrity overnight.

"We all knew that she sang nicely, but didn't have the slightest suspicion that the reaction to her singing would be so overwhelming," the 69-year-old told the newspaper.

"I am very proud, but I am also scared that she won't be protected enough. She's still only a little child, despite being an emotionally mature girl.

"She is very self-assured. There isn't a grain of shyness."
